  • AS/PMA mission: to document and celebrate the rich history of the "set your poems to music" industry.

  • Clicking on a label name will take you to a discography of titles, covering both singles and albums, that the AS/PMA has logged for that company. Also included are artist and customer (lyricist) names, label address (when known), and some logo and cover art scans (see last note). We've also written up brief histories for some of these companies, which will be found at the tops of the respective pages.

  • List up to date as of December 24, 2003 (4018 singles, EPs, 78s and 12" singles; 503 LPs; 25 CDs; 43 cassettes; 3 compilation-only songs; 5 tracks of unknown format).

  • Although these discographies at times get rather dense, and can be somewhat academic in nature, they are also a lot of fun just to scan for odd and interesting song titles and customer names (i.e., the "real" Homer Simpson, Pearl Harger, Lois Lane, Moses Malone, Gertrude Stein and Carmen Santiago).

  • Readers are invited to contact AS/PMA with additions, corrections, and questions.

  • Readers with any experience with or knowledge of the song-poem music industry -- be it from the inside or as customer or researcher -- are especially welcome to get in touch with us.

  • It should go without saying, but donations of song-poem records or related materials are incredibly welcome!

  • These discographies are presented for entertainment and informational purposes only.

  • Label names listed in bold italic include graphic images in discography file. Generally speaking, those with images are the more important of the song-poem companies.

    -- Miscellaneous albums --

The miscellaneous albums page documents anthology albums that include in their lineups one or two or several song-poem recordings.

    -- Song-poem cover versions --

The popularity of song-poem music has grown to where many musicians, including a number of well-known hepsters, have registered interpretations of their song-poem favorites. The cover versions page is a list of all recorded and live song-poem cover versions that are known to us. Predictably, most of the songs they've chosen to tackle are originally by Rodd Keith.
